Small Biz Discovers Blogging
A recent American Express survey found that only 5% of small businesses with fewer that 100 employees have a blog. Short for “web log,” a blog is an online collection of
articles or entries that appear in reverse chronological order (most recent entry first) as the reader scrolls down the page. But with 23.5 million businesses with fewer than 100 employees (2004 Census data), that means that 1,175,000 of them have blogs. Why?:
A blog puts a face on your business. It gives you a chance to show your personality. It makes you a living, breathing (and unique) being.
A blog gives you credibility. When you become an expert in your field, people are more likely to trust youand your product or service.
A blog lets you into your customers’ thoughts, concerns and needs. Your readers’ posts can help you uncover problems, needs and wants to address.
Blogs are picked up by search engines, making it easier for new customers to find you.
